Sweet As Pie, That's Me...

…when not watching, you know, the Mavs or NASCAR...or sports in general.

Janie Junebug (love the name, plus Junebug is a nickname of Dale Jr.’s, so how could I not love it?) was kind enough to award me this yummy looking pie, er, award, and I couldn’t be hungrier, uh, happier.  Seriously, though, Janie is an absolute love, thank you darlin’.

So, seven random things about me…I’m going to try and go REALLY random.

  1. Not so much a fan of songs with people’s names in them.  I mean, how can you really relate to a song when it’s about someone named whatever?  Used to like Help Me Rhonda by the Beach Boys, mainly because the Beach Boys are awesome and a favorite of my parents.  But, then, Troy Aikman married Rhonda (not the one in the song. ;)) and I couldn’t quite like it as much, strictly due to a young girl’s crush and, you know, hormones.  Since he divorced Rhonda, I find it totally enjoyable again.  Go figure.  ;)

  1. Okay, so you know about my irrational zombie fear.  Well, someone asked when it started, and I’m pretty sure it was when I first saw Michael Jackson’s Thriller video.  Yeah, that video scared the crud out of me.  Love the song, though. Total Halloween classic.

  1. Speaking of zombies, if you show up on Halloween dressed as a flesh-eating beastie, please don’t be offended if I throw candy in your face and slam the door shut.  Should you try and practical joke me, prepare for a butt-kicking.  This is how serious a phobia I have over the rotted-skin-lot.

  1.  Public bathrooms are like giant germ monsters to me.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they sprouted teeth and squirted paralyzing plague venom.  To say I take extra precautions when using said bathrooms would be an understatement.  Let’s just say no sitting is ever involved (squatting only), and there is always an abundance of paper towels and hand sanitizer present and accounted for.

  1. Sometimes, when I’m cold, I’ll say, “Brr donkeys!”  No idea why, and no clue where it comes from.

  1. I have an addiction to King’s Cake—traditional kind, no filling.  One year, I got the baby from four different cakes.

  1. One of my all time favorite songs is Bobby Darin’s Beyond the Sea.

Okay, now it’s your turn! I’m going to pass this one to my 7 newest blogging friends, but everyone, please, take it and have fun. :)

  1. Oh my goodness, Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin is one of my all-time favorite songs too! I love watching videos of him perform. He was such a charmer. :)

And I completely agree about public restrooms. I avoid going to them altogether, especially girls bathrooms in school. Ugh, and they say boys are slobs.

    Brr, donkeys! Hahahahaha. :D

    1. He had such a smooth voice! I just love everything about that song.

Oh, I know! Girls' bathrooms can be just as bad as the boys. Ick.

      LOL--*blushes*

  2. 1) The names never bothered me
    2) Yeah, freaky video
    3) I think your reaction to zombies is rather normal. I mean, who enjoys looking at a decomposing human?
    4) I've heard that the closest stall is the cleanest because everyone chooses the farther ones for privacy
    5) I love random sayings like that
    6) I don't know what that is ??
    7) Good song :)

    1. A King Cake is a Mardi Gras tradition in Louisiana. Inside the cake, they hide a little baby figurine and whoever gets it has to buy the King Cake the following year. Although, when we were kids, we were told the baby meant a year of good luck (probably because we were just kids and couldn't buy a cake lol). Oh, they are just so delicious!

  3. I love your random stuff. I love Bobby Darin. I love that song. I detest public restrooms. I don't know what a king's cake is. Explanation, please. I am not a zombie and will never show up at your door looking like one. And you're welcome, honey bunch. Now on the rare occasion that I'm cold, I'll be sure to say Brrrrr, donkeys. But it's so warm and humid here during the waning hours of February that I have my AC on. Is there something I should say because I'm too hot?

    Love,
    Janie

    1. I just replied to Jay about a King Cake, too. :) It's a tradition for the Mardi Gras celebrations in Louisiana. The baby is said to represent Baby Jesus. I tell you, I can devour one of these cakes without help. lol

LOL--Yep, you're making your AC work overtime. I never seem to make my AC work overtime. That's a problem. lol

  4. I love reading random stuff about others. For me, coming up with random stuff is excruciating because I suddenly can never summon random things! lol

    1. Oh, it's really tough. My mind goes blank in the moment, too, which is weird because I know I have tons of randomness. lol

    1. He was such a great crooner! :)

It is tough to think of randomness, even though there's so much of it. lol

  6. So you find zombies scarier than vampires? Zombies are a lot uglier, but they move very slowly, whereas vampires go after virgins!

    1. Yes, much scarier than vampires. I suppose it's because vampires are sexy...zombies are just disgusting on all levels.

My rational brain says I could outrun a zombie, but they still make me wiggy.

Well, if said vampire looks like some of the ones on t.v. or film, I may not sue. ;)

  7. I have an abiding horror of aliens. Don't know why. And zombies are pretty freaking creepy, too. If our world ends up full of aliens and/or zombies, I will be making sure I'm not around for either to use for experiments or eat. Ick.

    1. Some alien movies have scared the crap out of me, particularly when they're depicted as these evil things. The idea is a little creepy.

      Oh, yeah, definitely agree. *shivers*

  8. I do the same thing in public restrooms. I just can't stand all the dirtiness. You don't know who last used the toilet! So disgusting. I avoid them if at all possible.

    1. Exactly. It makes me physically ill to think of who was in the stall before you. Ewy.

  9. Now I must find and devour some King Cake. Is it only a New Orleans treat? I was there once in the 90s and everything I ate tasted heavenly. Don't know how I missed out on that one.

    1. It originates in New Orleans, but you can usually find them across the South, from Texas to Florida. BUT--you can order one from a bakery in New Orleans, so you get the original King Cake.

These cakes are just little bites of heaven. :)
