Truth Is: Dear Willoughby, I have so much to say to you, but I'm not going to whisper a single syllable. You simply cannot see what you do. It's okay. Humans are beautifully complex that way. But I cannot, and will not, be your Marianne. No, this Marianne needs her Colonel Brandon.
Truth Is: CSI: Miami was cancelled! Very sad. No more Horatio. :(
Truth Is: I miss my Mavs. When I think back on this time last year…the stress, nausea, pacing, heart pounding, and rocking back and forth on the edge of my seat; the highs and lows of wins and losses; the utter thrill of victory…it's a great feeling. Good luck to all you fans whose teams are still in the hunt--enjoy every single second, good, bad, and in between. There's nothing like it.
Truth Is: Mom got her Kindle for Mother's Day…with "wee-fee." She's hilarious with it. At first, she was completely clueless. Now, she's zooming around the thing like she's had it for years. Dad and I are very proud of her.
Truth Is: Life sent me a message on Mother's Day. Not joking.
Woke up Sunday to a little text jingle.
"Hmm, wonder who that is," I said, checking the number. "Don't recognize that number, but it is local. Maybe BFF got another new number."
I clicked on the text and very nearly fell out of bed.
"HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! Love, Life"
"Screw you, Life. Screw you." Yep, that was my spontaneous reaction.
Being single doesn't suck--beats being alone in a relationship. Still, Life needs to stay the hell out of it and shut the blank-ity-blank up.
CSI Miami was cancelled? What? Why? lol!
ReplyDeleteOh, there are so many upset fans! Basically, they said either CSI: New York or CSI: Miami would be axed. They said it was essentially a coin flip as to which wouldn't return.
DeleteThe ratings for Miami were a bit better than New York and not far behind the original CSI. Speculation is that it centers around production costs. Still, when you have a hit show, why cancel it to make room for shows you don't know will be any good?
I'm going to miss it...and Horatio's manly man-ness, and his one-liners.
I started snickering at "wee-fee". Your mother is a hoot.
ReplyDeleteYou need your Colonel Brandon and I need my Mr. Ferrars. LOL
And that text. Um. WTF?! Some random text message to you on Mother's Day? That's slightly creepy.
:)
DeleteAnd let's not forget Mr. Darcy. :)
Yeah. Exactly. It is kinda creepy...and seriously uncalled for. lol
Oh no, Mr. Darcy is always first choice. I was just sticking with the same movie/book. lol
DeleteLOL--I figured you were still a Darcy girl. lol Sigh, I wish we could clone Mr. Darcy. lol
DeleteIf you ever find someone who can do that for us, sign me up! lol Because I will forever be a Darcy girl. ;o)
DeleteYour Mother might enjoy my books on Kindle. Tell her to type Eva Gallant in the Kindle books search line!
ReplyDeleteSorry your Mavs lost. But feel free to help me cheer for the Celtics. They've got me chewing my nails, every game!!!
Yes! Don't think I haven't told her already! She hasn't purchased anything yet, but when she does, your books on on her list. :)
DeleteOh, don't worry, I am. Every time they play, I'm thinking, "Win for Eva! Come on guys!" They are playing really well.
I also got that text. But from my friend Mary. And sometimes Mary needs a life. Maybe we should play matchmaker.
ReplyDeleteOh, let's do. Mary and Life, happily ever after. lol
DeleteMr. Darcy is my first choice. How did a sheltered spinster manage to create these male characters we still fall for?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Mr. Darcy, then Colonel Brandon for me. I love Mr. Darcy. Although Colonel Brandon is perfectly wonderful, too. Sigh.
DeleteShe was a romantic, years ahead of her time. As a woman possibly on Spinster Road, I'm quite happy she led the way. lol
I had a lot of people telling me Happy Mother's Day and I avoided slapping them all...but just barely. I knew what they were getting at...as a nanny I'm a mother in every sense of the word except having birthed them. From 730-730 I raise 4 kids. I don't get cool cards or paper flowers though and that is just fine with me. If I'd gotten that text message I'm pretty sure I'd have freaked out. Creepy.
ReplyDeleteI get that they're being kind, recognizing the impact you have on the children you care for--you are absolutely akin to a mother--but...yeah, it's still not something I'd want to hear. lol
DeleteThat text got the big old delete. :/
I wish my mom would just learn the concept of texting. THAT would be the greatest thing EVER! Sorry about your Mavs, know how you feel!
ReplyDeleteLOL--My mom can't text either. She can zoom around on a Kindle now, but can't text. lol
DeleteSigh......insensitive and stupid text.
ReplyDeleteThere's always next year for you Mavs! Who are you cheering for now?
Clever mom you got Frisky!
Is it rose smelling weather there? Mine are just about ready to bloom. xo
My mom said that whoever sent it might have meant well--like if it was some random mass message thing someone decided to do. But, not everyone is a mother, so...yeah, maybe the intention was good. I'd like to think so, anyway.
DeleteI like the Celtics for Eva, but I also like the Thunder. The way they played my Mavs last year, I knew they would be a force.
She is! :)
Oh yes, everything is green and pretty. I love when everything wakes up from winter. :)
I worked on Mother's Day, and had quite a few customers tell me "Happy Mother's Day". Since I am neither a mother, and never will be, and don't really have a great relationship with my Mom, it is irritating. What if I had just lost a child, or found out I wasn't able to have one? I think people just need to be more aware that there are way more women out there who aren't mothers than there used to be. It is easier not to say anything than to say something and risk offending someone.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said. It seems society still expects all women to become wives and mothers. Times are so different now. Would I like to find love, marry, and become a mommy? Yes, absolutely. Is there a chance that won't happen? Yes, absolutely. Wish me a Merry Christmas or Happy Easter, but maybe forget the specific "role" days...and Valentine's Day. ;)
