Getting To Know You Tag

I received this tag from the wonderful, inspiring Barsola.  If you haven't visited her blog, please do so--she is quite an inspiration, and I just think the world of her.

If you would like to play along, please take these questions and have fun--would love to read everyone's answers.

How big is your fabric stash? (i.e., how many boxes, bins or pounds? You determine the measurement)

Yeah, I’m not a fabric-y kind of person, really.  I do have a small container of ribbons I like to use on presents.  May not be able to wrap very well, but I can tie a mean bow.  Hey, it’s something anyway.

Are you an early bird or night owl?

Oh, I fly with the owls.  The “early bird gets the worm” never appealed to me.  Maybe it’s the worm thing. Ew.

Do you speak any other languages? If not what other language do you wish you knew?

I’m pretty good with French, but I would love to speak so many languages, like Mandarin and Spanish.

What store do you have a hard time leaving empty-handed (online or bricks and sticks)?

If I had to pick one, I’d say Sephora.  I love that place—all your favorite beauty products in one stop…can we say dream?!  And they accept returns.  *squeal* It’s not just make-up, either—you have skin care, hair care, bath & body products…oooh, it’s so much fun, and I always find something to try out.

What are your favorite blogs to read?

Everyone that I have met on here is so special and unique and wonderful that I couldn’t possibly name favorites because I love them all.

What is your favorite book or movie?

Again, so many.  Harry Potter, to me, is just perfection for all ages, both book and film.

Where do you sew?

I don’t sew.  I tried...it didn't end well.  Wish I really knew how to sew, but I don’t.  Maybe one day.

When did you make your first quilt?

I’ve never made one, but I’ve always loved them. When I think of a quilt, I think, “Made with Love.”

How many hours per week (per day?) do you spend on Pinterest? What, if anything have you made/acquired/acted on that you pinned?

I literally just heard about Pinterest, but I know nothing about it.

What’s your favorite quilting tip?

Since I don’t quilt myself, the only tip I can give is to cherish those that are made for you or those you find, knowing each stitch is made with love. Quilts, to me, tell a story--one you can't see, but one you can feel.

Did you make a New Years resolution? Have you kept it?

I try not to make resolutions, but instead create a new or modified set of goals.  Resolutions never work. They just don’t.

For example, “I resolve to not drink soda.” For a while, this resolution works, until said resolution sucks so bad you break it.  Then, you realize resolutions as a whole just plain suck, are a complete waste of time, and end up making you feel bad about yourself when you break them.

So, yeah, goals are a much better way to go—like, I will slowly begin cutting back on soda, until I’m only drinking it during, say, an LSU game (which is just so necessary…I would be frightened to see myself sans soda during an LSU game *shivers*).  See? Much more manageable, minus the suck and guilt parts.

With my sinuses finally easing up, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the NASCAR race yesterday...until rain caused an abrupt ending. Sigh. BUT...Dale finished 3rd!!! He was methodically ripping it up all race long. Another amazing finish for the 88, lifting him to 3rd in Sprint Cup Standings.

  1. *squeals* I'm SO glad I'm not the only girl who doesn't know how to sew!!!!

(this is where I would totally bounce up and down, clapping my hands like a 4 year old . . .)

    1. LOL--Okay, now I seriously want to bounce, too! lol You are SO not alone! Threading a needle causes deep frustration and angst (I've helped my mom thread needles in the past, and I can't imagine following that circus act with actual sewing). lol

  2. Hadda love seeing 48 take a crap before the rainout. Kinda felt sorry for 24 and his dipshit move. I had just told my son, "At least if it rains, Jeff'll get a top ten since he won't have time to blow an engine." Oops!

    1. LOL--Yeah, I felt bad for Jeff, too--he was having a great run...until then. The 48 was lucky to finish where he did. Tony drove like a maniac from the start, which was fun to watch (every time he drives down drivers like that I think of when he said, "Here, kitty, kitty.") Dale paced himself perfectly and set up a fantastic finish for his team.

Fun race. Glad we had as much of it as we did before the rain came.

  3. My fabric stash is one 40 gallon Rubbermaid tote. Which is surprising considering how much I sew. I always found that having fabric just sitting there meant that it was not going to good use. So if I don't have a use for it, it doesn't come home. I am just finishing up a costume for Anime Boston for Bonus Brother (He wants to be Blue Link from Zelda this year) then on to the cushions for the new kitchen set, then my niece's first communion gown from my sister's wedding dress.

    *sigh*

I am overwhelmed just thinking about it all.

    1. Phew! I'm overwhelmed reading it! I do envy your talents, though. I really do wish I could sew, but I'm just so very bad. lol

  4. Great questions I have nicked some to use as blog posts. I agree resolutions don't work well not for me anyway which is why I do not make them can't see the point as that is just setting myself up for failure.........

    1. Oh, good! I can't wait to read them. Maybe it's the word "resolution." That's why I change it to "goals." Sounds better, anyway. lol

  5. Although I am not a sports fan, we still have so much in common. Harry Potter, of course, and I can't sew. Everything I have ever tried to sew has looked like crapola. I don't quilt. I certainly don't have a fabric stash. If I learned how to sew, I would have to pull down the curtains to make play clothes for the children . . . uh, wait a minute. I'm not in that movie. I like to sing, though, and occasionally I sing in Spanish. My daughter speaks French, and she knows some Mandarin. Her birthday is the same day as Harry's. She cannot sew either, because she was brought up by a very bad mom.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. :) Yes, we do! Yep, I tried to knit or crochet (can't remember which one) a blanket...I made it to about row 7 or 8, maybe.

LOL--I now have The Sound of Music in my mind. Oh, wow, you sing in Spanish?! Awesome! Aw, you are so NOT a bad mommy, not even close. I love that your daughter's birthday is the same as Harry's. :)

  6. Thanks for doing the tag! I love watching Project Runway and everytime they say something along the lines of "I had to thread the bobbin" my first thought is, "What is a bobbin?" Glad to see I might not be the only person who doesn't know what it is. And, Frisky, it totally made my day and made me smile when you said you thought the world of me. Aw, shucks, thank you!

    1. Oh, I love Project Runway, too...LOL--Yeah, I had to stop for a moment, here, and dig around my brain for a mental image of a bobbin. LOL

Awww, well, I meant every word. *Hugs*

  7. I'm wondering whether you should try dating a Frenchman and impressing him with your command of his language. Hmm, perhaps not.

    1. Please don't date a Frenchman. My daughter tried that. He was rude. They are all rude and they are cowards and everyone had to save their asses during WWII. I guess I should get over that, the WWII thing, but I still don't want you dating a Frenchman.

    2. GB: LOL--Well, it's always an idea, I reckon. Although, I think a non-French speaking man may find it a bit more alluring.

Janie: LOL--I've never known a Frenchman, but a friend of mine was head over heels for one; last I heard they were getting married. I've heard both good and bad.
