Truth Is Thursday--Sinuses Suck

Truth Is: I know I haven’t been blogging much this week.  I’ve been fighting a ferocious sinus infection.  We’re talking the ice bag on face, Anbesol on gums, Advil every chance you get kind of thing. Honestly, I haven’t had one this bad in a long, long time.

Truth Is: If someone cancels a date due to a sinus infection, please know it’s actually in your best interest.  Please don’t respond with the following: “Really?  You’re bailing over a sinus flare up?  If you don’t want to go out with me, just tell me.”

Here’s the thing:  Unless you would like your date carrying a drippy ice bag, downing Advil, snotting, drooling from a numb mouth thanks to copious amounts of Anbesol, and likely face-planting in her food, be happy about a cancellation.

Truth Is: I’m really looking forward to seeing The Hunger Games, but I would love for people to stop saying it’s the next Harry Potter. No, it isn’t. They’re two completely different stories set in two totally different worlds. Besides, Harry Potter stands alone.

Truth Is: Tim Tebow is now a Jet, not Bennie (B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets…sorry.  Great song, though).

I’ve heard people say that Tim “needs to change to fit the NFL.  He needs to act more like a football player.” These folks aren’t talking about his game; they’re talking about him as a person.  Ooh, it really boils my blood!

Change to fit in? Well, bah on them!  I say dare to be different.  No one should ever, ever, ever make you feel like you have to fit some absurd standard “they” deem appropriate.

Tim Tebow is a true role model, and if people don’t like it, then maybe that reveals a little something about their true selves. I hope more than anything Tim has the chance to shine in New York.

Truth Is: My dad is hilarious.  He brought out his fan and there were two big “X’s” drawn in Sharpie marker over two of the buttons.

Me: “Um, Dad?  Why are there two big X’s on your fan?”

Dad: “Because they remind me those two buttons are evil.”

Me: “Evil?”

Dad: “Yeah, well, they screw up my settings, make the thing go WHOOOOOSH, and then it just stops.  Thought it was broken a time or two.  And you know I always end up pushing one of those two stupid buttons.  Not anymore,” he said grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

Classic.

    1. Definitely not! lol Yeah, it's a tough one. :( I have so much to catch up on, too. :( I promise to be back reading really soon.

  3. Wow that guy could have shown a little more understanding. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the Hunger Games trailer I'm looking forward to seeing it, and I hate any comparisons like that. The media or whoever has to hype it up in a mistaken attempt to make it more interesting.

    1. He doesn't suffer from sinuses, apparently, so he just had no clue how awful they can make you feel. Still, I think you're right--he could have been a little more understanding. It really was in his best interest as well. lol

Oh, me too. They tried it with Twilight, too--"Is Twilight the new Harry Potter?" Ugh. I'm not sure why they need to compare--each one really deserves its own credit/place in film/literature.

  4. I hate it when I get a sinus infection and people act as if it's no big deal. I know how miserable you feel and I empathize with you. Tim Tebow is sooooo hot. My goodness gracious. I loves me some eye candy. AND he doesn't get arrested and isn't involved in some nasty scandal. I don't know anything about football, but I'm smart enough to know that such a nice young man shouldn't change. Your guest post will be on my blog one week from today.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. People who don't fight sinuses just don't get it, and I can understand that. But it's still frustrating when they act all "so what" about it. lol

Exactly. Whether people agree with his beliefs or not, no one can deny the world needs more role models like him--just as you said, he's a good, upstanding man. Can't ask for much more than that. And, yes, he is very handsome! :)

Oh, goodness! I'm nervous! lol I hope your followers will like it. :/

    2. Anyone who doesn't like your guest post will be ushered to the outer chamber and given a hideous sinus infection.

  5. You poor thing! My BFF has chronic sinus issues, so I know that sinus issues are something you should never take on a date if they're flaring up. OOHH! Tell him to Google it - better yet, do a Google image search. Should teach him.

OMG, I really hope I get to see the Hunger Games in theaters. Jewels told me I HAD to read it, so I did. I was so skeptical about it, but LOVED it. Couldn't put it down. But, uh, there is no comparison between HG and HP. I'm sorry, but no matter how good HG is, it's not HP. It's like comparing apples and paint. :o)

And I love that your dad put X's on buttons. LOL

    1. LOL--Suggest a Google image search! LOL That's hilarious and totally gonna happen! LOL

Apples and paint--love that, and so, so true. Hunger Games is fantastic, but...yeah, it's just not Harry Potter. Nope. Not at all. Have I mentioned I miss looking forward to new HP books and films? Sigh.

LOL--I literally couldn't stop laughing. Only Dad. lol

    2. It's a catch 22. I'm glad the HP thing is over, 7 books was enough and so was 8 movies. But I do miss looking forward to the next one! lol

I have heard rave reviews so far about The Hunger Games movie. Oddly enough, one person said it's so spot on it's disappointing! LOL I'm so excited. Last time I was this excited, it was Harry Potter. LOL

  6. Here's the thing about Tebow. I applaud him for being so true to himself and his beliefs. But he's using the NFL as a platform for this and I question if it's appropriate. If it was a Muslim QB would the public feel the same if he was praising Allah? Now if we are talking about his game and actual football related talents.... statistically he need work.

Course, I have no complaints in the eye candy department. :)

    1. I understand how you feel, and you make a good point. I guess, to me, it's better that he is using the platform to be such an upstanding role model (beliefs aside--he doesn't swear, drink, and sleep around, does a great deal of charity work, etc), unlike others in the entertainment industry who use their platform to behave horribly (plenty of examples there).

:) He is certainly easy on the eyes.

  7. Poor Frisky! I feel for you. And I hope you are feeling better soon :-) Around here, the flowering trees are in full bloom - and as a result I'll be living on Claratine for at least the next 3 weeks!

I don't mind Tebow so much. He has much potential to be a great quarterback. His rabid fanbase however is another story altogether.....

Had to Google "The Hunger Games" to see what all the hype is about. How people can say it's "the next H.P." is beyond me. From what I've read, it is NOTHING like our beloved Harry Potter!

    1. Thank you--it's starting to get better, and I'm feeling more like myself.

He really does have a great deal of talent, if given the chance.

Absolutely agree! Harry Potter is in a league of its own...with chocolate frogs and wands and owls. :)

  8. Feel better soon! Here everyone is suffering from all the pollen in the air. Warm weather does have it's price to pay; but I don't think too many people here are complaining about the warm temps we've enjoyed the last few weeks.
