Truth Is Thursday--Emotional Dweeb, Yoda Dale, & Random Life Stuff

Truth Is:  I read something that suggested meditating on feelings as a way to de-stress.  WTH?  Feelings are the things that send us into orbit!  How the frig can that calm me down? See, a little irked right now…

Truth Is: Dale Jr. ripped it up in the Duels today, finishing second.

Truth Is: Dale Jr. ripped it up in the Budweiser Shootout, but was unfortunately collected in a foolish wreck.  And, I gotta say, I think Jeff Gordon’s a great driver and all, but he seems to get a little wobbly-kneed when Dale pushes him.  During the shootout, radio communication reports said that Jeff asked Dale to back off.  Thing is, when Dale was pushing him, they were up front.  If the Yoda of restrictor plate racing was on my rear end, I’d let him Jedi my butt all the way around the track, no questions.  If there was ever someone to trust, it’s him.

Truth Is: Very happy that the two-car tandem stuff seems to have diminished at Daytona.  Give me pack racing any day.

Truth Is:  Dad.  Sigh.  Yeah, he apparently decided to “lightly drizzle” queso (cheese/salsa) on tater tots.

My response to Dad: “E. R.  I. C. U. Do those letters ring a really loud bell, by chance?”

Dad, totally playing coy: “Huh, can’t say they do at the moment.”

*Shakes head*

Truth Is: I love my Mavs.  Just had to say that.  They fight so hard.

Truth Is:  Harry Potter better bring home an Academy Award this Sunday.  It will be a travesty in the film world if this series doesn’t have an Oscar to its name.

Truth Is: Moisturizer update!  The smell—same.  The result—vast improvement already.  I’m shocked.  Obviously, I’ll need to give it more time, but the drastic difference in my skin has me cautiously optimistic that this stuff will abolish the dryness entirely.

Truth Is:  AMC is showing Sleepless in Seattle later today.  I should have added it to my top five movies.  Anything Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan, I adore, and this is one of my favorites.  Cry every single time.  I know, I'm a romantic dweeb. I accept this.

  1. I am very excited about the Oscar's but only because of Billy Crystal. I really hope he pulls out all the stops for one more show.

  2. I'm excited about Billy Crystal, too, and I really want Harry Potter to win an award. The last movie should have been nominated for best picture. I'm glad your skin is better. I'm very fussy about my skin because it's so sensitive. I don't suppose you actually go to Daytona, do you? It's only about 90 minutes from my house.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. Totally agree--I'm really surprised DH2 wasn't nominated for Best Picture, especially considering they could have added an additional film on the ballot. :o(

I've never been to a NASCAR race. Would LOVE to one day. Lucky you, living so close to Daytona! I look forward to it very year.

  5. Sleepless in Seattle! What a fantastic movie. I adore it. Tom Hanks in that movie is just...ugh, wonderful. As is Meg Ryan.

I'm really excited for the Academy Awards. I love that it's entirely dedicated to great films. Of course, there are always things that make no sense (like DH2 not being nominated for Best Picture), but it's better than the Grammy's because the movies are actually good. Do you know what I mean? Like there's a lot more talent in the AAs than the Grammy's. :D

    1. I just love everything about the movie. Everything. Tom Hanks...breaks my heart in that film. You know the part where he talks to the radio show host and describes the love he shared with his wife? Cry every time. Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks are just a very special duo.

Oh, you make complete sense. Some performances on the Grammy's confused me to no end--like Nicki Minaj.

Overlooking DH2 is nonsensical. I can't fathom them not nominating the film, or Alan Rickman. But, I'm so glad Billy Crystal is back to host. He's brilliant.

  9. NASCAR hunh? I was a sprint car mechanic for years (even met Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne) but never got into Nascar, or never (sorry) understood how anybody could sit and watch an entire race!

    1. Oh my gosh, really?! How exciting! I love NASCAR--from the mechanics to the science & strategy, it all fascinates me. :) Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne seem like really awesome guys, and they're incredible drivers. But, if they come to the line with Dale Jr., Dale's my guy. ;)

  10. As you know, we're a Gordon house. And I will say that while both drivers are good, they are on the same team now (Sprint series wise) so I can't see why it would so a weakness for one driver to let another driver know when there's an issue with the technical stuff.

OK. That's all I'm saying about it. :)

OH, and I hear ya on the artery clogging food stuff. Sometimes I just look at what Tony's eating and think "It's so not worth saying anything, I'll just increase his life insurance."

Men. What are ya gonna do?

    1. I just don't think their driving styles mesh very well in these types of races. I don't think he has ever really liked Dale pushing him in restrictor plate races, based on the radio chatter and reports over the years. Regardless, they are both great drivers. :)

Well, Mom put the stop to the snacking this weekend, and he's been so grumpy, but he's also enjoyed mealtime way more with an emptier stomach. lol

  11. OH! And thanks for taking off the verification! Much love for that!!!

  12. I think meditating on my feelings would only lead to disaster. I just can't see that going anywhere positive. Unless you're tremendously happy about something. Maybe.

And I'm crossing my fingers for HP! I don't watch awards shows anymore because I only get angry when whoever I want to win doesn't. I'll probably look at the results in the paper tomorrow.

    1. Kate: Seriously! Meditating on feelings just seems like a disastrous idea.

Well, HP didn't win an Academy. It's very disheartening. I really cannot believe a series as phenomenal as HP wouldn't be recognized by the Academy. I mean, they awarded Star Wars, LOTR, etc. It's baffling.
