Dallas Mavericks, Dale Earnhardt Jr., & Boston Rob

Dallas Mavericks: The Dallas Mavericks will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. The Mavs will have home court advantage in the series.  The winner of this series will play for the championship.  *oooh, slight stomach churn*  Game One will be Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Today was another top 15 run for Dale (finishing 12th)...almost a top ten.  He ran well the entire race.  Though I know he would rather get those wins--and fans would LOVE to see him get those wins--racing consistently well is key, and the whole 88 team is doing that beautifully.  He's still 4th in points.  The wins are coming...I know it.

Survivor: Whether you like Boston Rob or not, the guy is undeniably the best to ever play this game.

A couple of my favorite players were coined heroes in the game of Survivor: Colby Donaldson and Rupert Boneham (who I always called Hagrid).  They were labeled heroes because of their good-guy game play and amazing likability.

Boston Rob, however, has been permanently placed in the villain vat of Survivor players.  And you know what? I like the guy. There have been some despicable players in the history of survivor, but Boston Rob simply isn't one of them.  Why?  I dunno.  Maybe it's how he talks--he is who he is, whether in the game or in real life (an example of which occurred on Survivor: All Stars when he proposed to fellow contestant, and Survivor winner, Amber).  I truly believe he can separate the game from real life, whereas I question the same of other contestants.

Normally, I don't like the it's just a game philosophy to excuse deplorable, deceitful game strategy.  Personally, I could never play this game.  Aside from the whole lack of soap, shampoo, razor, toothpaste, floss, and, well, a toilet, I absolutely could not play the game backstabbing others for money.  Still, I like Rob. What's up with that?

You may not agree with his tactics, but you have to admit, the man is absolutely unique...not to mention entertaining and funny as heck.

10 years, 4 games, 117 days, and Boston Rob finally wins the game of Survivor.  Congratulations to Boston Rob, a true game-player, the sole survivor, and the best to really play this game.

One thing is certain, Survivor won't be the same without Boston Rob.

  1. I'm rooting for the big D! -Dallas that is! lol

  2. lol! being out here on the west coast, the Survivor finale is airing right now. Our friend is watching it, so I'm not going to tell her who wins ;-) She was upset that Matt didn't make it to the final round.

  3. I'm so happy the Thunder won. Although I don't think they stand a chance against the Mavs. However, Dallas may have been out of the loop for too long. Hope they're not rusty . . .

My wife and I are huge Survivor fans. Of course we were glued to the TV tonight. She hates Boston Rob, whereas he's grown on me over the years. I sincerely wanted him to win this time. He definitely played the best game, bar none.

  4. yeah, throughout the season i wasn't a huge fan of rob but i'm still glad he won overall. there wasn't really any competition for who played it the best.

  5. Ya know, I was SO into the very first survivor series that I actually attended a party to watch the final episode? And I've never watched it since!

  6. My friend actually did a presentation in school today about Survivor and how, in reality, they're allowed to bring all their toiletries. I'm not sure if that was accurate though. I personally HATED rob, but oh well, he was pretty interesting.

  7. Love him or hate him Boston Rob is good at what he does! I'm not sure he'd have a chance against I guy I know, who at 54, just ran with the bulls in Spain!

  8. I'm a huge survivor fan and i looove boston rob too! so glad he finally won survivor and i love the way he talks, he's jst so likeable :)
haha..i always call rupert hagrid too!

  9. YAY! I can't wait until Tuesday :D

  10. I'm glad the Thunder beat the Heat, too. I'm torn as to who to cheer for now. I'd like to help you root for the Mavs.. but two of my favorite former Boston Celtics are now playing for the Thunder Kendrick Perkins (I think he's way yummy!) and Nate Robinson. : (

  11. Yvonne: Woo Hoo! Come on Dallas!!!!!

chocolateangel: I liked Matt, too. I felt so bad for him. :( Maybe he'll return for another season.

David: They have had a long break, but they've been practicing and preparing. :) I have faith in them. :) Boston Rob really did outplay everyone.

Aubree: You're absolutely right--there was no one to compete with him on game play.

Jenner: lol I remember all the hype when it first came out.

Anna: Rob is an acquired taste--some people learn to like him, some don't. It's interesting how he can polarize fans. Oh! I had no idea they could bring their toiletries--hope that's true.

Carole: Yeah, I'd say he might have trouble against a man who ran with the bulls! WOW! That's some bravery, there! :)

kitkat: Aww, someone else who called Rupert "Hagrid!" Yay! I'm really happy Rob finally won!

Somnia: Tonight!!!! Little nervous here!!! :)

Eva: Hmm. That is a dilemma. Well...they are former, just pull for the Mavs. LOL ;)
