Valentine's Eve...A Weekend Roundup.

'Twas the night before V--...

Yeah, I can't carry that one through.

So, yesterday was the Budweiser Shootout, a.k.a. the official return of NASCAR. Hurray! Dale Earnhardt Jr. drew the pole for Saturday night's race, and was having a great night until...Smith got into Carl Edwards, who then clipped Dale. Night over. Boo!

***On the very bright side--Dale won the pole for the upcoming Daytona 500!!!! Hurray!***

Food Drama: Yesterday, I ordered Chinese food. My favorite part of the meal? Fortune cookie time!!

Well, I had 3 fortune cookies. 2 of them were the exact same: "You and your wife will be happy in your life together."

Two totally inapplicable fortunes for several reasons: 1. Wrong sex; 2. I'm not someone's wife or anything of the like, so I can't stretch it in any possible way to make it fit; and 3. I don't recall ever seeing a marriage fortune, much less two of the same thing--highly inappropriate fortunes right before the-day-that-must-not-be-named.

Result: My dad's getting them, since he and my mom fit said fortunes perfectly.

The 3rd fortune did offer a tiny bit of hope: "All your hard work will soon pay off." Here's hoping. Think I'll keep this one.

Next up was a boatload of fun: After watching Gone With The Wind, another kind of wind began battering my stomach something awful.  The painfully unwelcome visitor then kept me in post-food hell until 8 a.m. this morning. I'm trying hard NOT to take this as a sign, but rather an unfortunate, ill-timed that just so happened to fall on V-Day eve. Ironic and appropriate in so many ways.

Happy V-Day Eve! *just doesn't have the same ring to it*

Bah! Humbug! *now, that works*

  2. hahahaha you always make me laugh

and i had this weird revelation type thing. just now as i was watching The Holiday (bad v-day movie. I did not take your advice and for that I am sorry)

    please don't think i'm creepy.

you are the "leading lady" frisky virgin. i picture your life as this movie and it's hilarious, and even though it's awful at times, it gets better. and i'm glad you will keep us tuned. i believe your last fortune will come true :D

  3. I hope you didn't open the fortune cookie until after dinner. It's bad luck if you open it earlier.

  4. Thanks for the laugh. I hate VD as well.

  5. Yay!! Dale Jr. got the pole!! :-D I'm eagerly anticipating Daytona next Sunday. New surface, fast's gonna be one humdinger of a race!

*counting down the hours until I can start buying all that discounted chocolate ;-)

  6. Awww! Hope you're feeling better!

  7. Interesting fortune. My favorite? "Ask your mom." Best. Fortune. Ever. lol

  8. I hope that someone special shows up in your life when you least expect him and sweeps you off your feet. And that next year at this time you'll have a totally different feeling about V Day! Hugs!

  9. Careful there, now. Sounds like you narrowly avoided having a "Vomit Day" for reals! :)

I love Chinese food, btw, but hate fortune cookies. I do love the fortunes where they teach you Chinese, though. Since I already speak it, it's fun having my wife struggle to read the phrases out loud and me guess what she's trying to say. :)

  10. What kind of a stupid fortune is that, and two of them?! I would've asked for a refund.
I hope you feel better and can just enjoy chocolate and self-care time on Monday.

  11. I'm a fan of NASCAR, too! Well, I really was very much so, until the death of Earnhardt Sr. Now the politics and new rules and fines and such really bug me an awful lot. And I can't honestly say that that is the reason I watch it less. NASCAR-love came from my dad, and even though he's been gone for 10 whole years, it still hurts me to watch races without him. Anyhow, I still root for Dale Jr, that hottie! My family is having a party for the Daytona 500 and he's the man I'll have my eye on!

  12. Well, Miss Virgin, let me be the first to send you a virtual Valentine Banana from the Congo, which I hope you'll pretend to eat. Bananas are good for gas if you don't eat the skin.

  13. Hope you have a wonderful "You" day today! Pamper yourself in some way. Soda of course, and maybe even a decadent confection from the nearest bakery! I ask you... Where is it written that you have to be part of a pair to enjoy a big old piece of chocolate cake! That always makes me feel better. Or, maybe a little power shopping after work? A new Marc Jacobs bag, perhaps?

Whatever you decide to do, make it all about you. I can't think of anyone who deserves it more!

and remember chocolate hearts go on sale tomorrow!

  15. Hero: *blushes* Thank you. :)

    Jewels: Hugs back. :)

Lex: You are so sweet. I don't think you are creepy in the least. You totally made this day better! Thank you. :)

George: ALWAYS after the meal. ;)

Oilfield: Welcome. ;) I guess I don't need to reiterate my feelings on V-Day.

Chocolateangel: I know! I cannot wait for Daytona! I'm elated Dale won the pole and I soooooo hope he can win Daytona!!!

Ooooh, yes, you can bet I'm hittin' the chocolate sales first thing tomorrow! :)

    Yvonne: Thanks--doing much better today.

    J.Day: LOL--Have to agree.

Eva: I really hope so! It would certainly change my attitude towards V-Day...wouldn't that be strange? lol

David: LOL You know, you're right! Looks like V-Day almost turned the tables on me. lol

Rawknrobin: Seriously!! I couldn't believe I had two of the same sucky, mocking, inapplicable fortunes!! Blah. Oooh, yes, chocolate will be my date, especially once it goes on sale. ;)

Jenner: I was a fan of Dale Sr., as well. I will never forget that day. :( I'm so glad we have Dale Jr. He just seems like a really good guy.

    Gorilla: Yummmmmmmmmmmm! :)

Martha: You are a sweetheart! You can bet the soda is a sure thing, some chocolate, too. Chocolate does bring the smiles, every time. *HUGS*

Carole: hehe, Thank you! And to you, too! Oh, I won't forget those sales--it's my favorite part of February...well, second behind the return of NASCAR. :)

  16. Thinking of you today, darlin'.~ *hugs*
