Love Is In The Air...

...on Cinderita's blog. I wrote a guest blog on love for her and she's featuring it tomorrow. Please keep in mind, I was in my Valentine's state of mind when I wrote it, which, as most of you know, wasn't terribly sunny.

Love. That word has been really bothering me lately. It's thrown around so loosely these days, I sometimes wonder if it still exists in its true form. I think it does, but the bigger concern is whether the person saying it actually believes in the meaning...or are they just saying it because it's the "thing" to do.  Maybe they feel they've been with someone long enough and better just say it.

Last November, when I asked Wasn't point blank if he loved his girlfriend of nearly one year, there was this amazing hesitation, followed by serious waffling, and then, "Uuuuuh, you know, yeah." Not sure about you, but that's not what I would want to hear. I don't want to be with someone who isn't really sure about me. Granted, he's probably not the best example to go by, but I remember thinking, I wonder if he really knows what it means to love someone. I think that about a lot of people, actually.

I tend to think simple things have become ridiculously complicated these days...things like love and trust.  They are so wonderfully basic, but, wow, the way some people act today makes it really difficult to keep them simple.

Okay, I'm totally mind dumping here.

And if I get shocked one more time when I turn on a light switch, I'm going to start getting radio signals...or turn into, like, Electro Girl--tag line: Touch, and you'll get electrocuted. Wow, how popular would I be with guys?  So not ideal.

  1. Don't give up on love; it does exist. My husband and I have been married 27 years and are still in love.

  2. I can't wait to see you over at Rita's tomorrow. You don't have to justify how you feel/felt about love, dear. We love you just as you are.

  3. We all have our moments of distress at the state of love in the world today. But, it does exist, and the good stuff is worth it. I can't describe what it feels like to really love someone, but I know when I think about Bud, I love him down to my toes and deep in my soul. It makes me feel full in a way I've never felt before. If that's what truly loving someone is, then I've found it.

  4. I so get this post! I often wonder the same thing. Everything just gets so complicated and no one it seems. wants to put forth the effort to make things happen. Sigh, whatever. lol I'm still a romantic and I still believe in love. I don't say it, if I don't mean it. It IS used very loosely these days. So much so, that it loses it's meaning and makes it worthless. At least, to me. Chin up girlie! And don't give up on love. It's a beautiful thing. :)

  5. As someone who is terribly, head over heels in love right now and busy planning a wedding... I have to agree with you. Love as a word or phrase is used far too often, and usually not at all on time. Even in my relationship (which is wonderful, but does take work), I don't think Future Husband really knew what love was until he was with me. So many people nowadays are serial monogamists, and confuse commitment or security with love. Add to that the cross section of people that are so in love with the 'idea' of love that they ruin any normality in a relationship, and well... yeah. Love's a pretty rare thing these days.

  6. There are some people I know that I can NEVER see ever feeling real love. Never. I don't know what's up with the world, but it sucks. Hard.

  10. When a woman says she loves a guy, that guy has two choices. One: repeat the line. Two: Stand there in awkward silence for five minutes and prepare to get dumped. That one year example may be lengthy, but I’ve had women tell me they love me after only a week or two. What should be a declaration of your feelings practically becomes an ultimatum.

  12. "I wonder if he really knows what it means to love someone" That statement so made me think of my ex....omg, all the years I wasted with him. Perhaps it was to appreciate what I have now even more...
